Welcome to the November edition of the SCV Newsletter! 🍾
🚀 Cohort 6.0 - We’re Now Investing.
We’ve got a lot to announce this month, from our ‘The Best of EdTech Demo Days’, the 2-day event that took place on the 29th and 30th of November, our Head of Programmes speaking at Holon IQ, our Co-Founder Tamas giving a Keynote presentation at Slush, the recent announcement of our ‘New Deal’, and so much more.
Applications for Cohort 6.0 are open, and we’re leaving our service for equity model behind, as we’re now looking to invest up to $270k in capital, as well as providing hands-on support and access to the SuperCharger Ventures’ network for life. 🙌

If you’re not subscribed to the SCV monthly newsletter, well, we can’t really make you, can we. This is kind of awkward. 🤷🏻♂️
But…it really only takes a second. And, what’s the worst that could happen? Go on then, make our month that little bit better. 😉

🚀 Cohort 6.0 - Applications Are Still Open!
Cohort 6.0 - We Want You With Us.
Our terms have been completely rewritten for Cohort 6.0, as this is our first Cohort to leave behind our service for equity model.
We’ve prepared a brand new deal. We are now investing up to $270k in capital in each of our Accelerator startups. We purchase the right to 6% equity and provide $20,000 upfront at the start of the programme. During or post-programme, startups are eligible to get up to $250,000 as a follow-on investment, subject to our investment committee. 🌎
Applications are now open and will be closing on the 10th of December, so make sure to apply now for Cohort 6.0 🚀.
Now, it’s easy to leave things till last minute. You might be thinking… “I have over 10 days left, I can apply in a week or so.” We’ve all been there, with university assignments, or buying your mother-in-law’s Christmas presents. But then you are left only being able to buy her the oversized Christmas jumper with a big ugly green Grinch that no one else wanted. Be prepared, don’t leave things until last minute. 😉
SuperCharger Ventures is now the biggest EdTech Accelerator in the world in terms of portfolio size, so join us now in this new step of our journey. 🚶🏻

One of our Co-Founders, Tamas Haiman, gave the keynote speech at InvestED at Slush in Helsinki, Finland, on the 17th of November! 👏🏻
A big thank you to Mia-Stiina Heikkala and Helsinki Education Hub for making this happen. 🚀
It was great to see so many friends and partners there, a few being : Mervi Palander, Vesa Perälä, Jesper Ryynänen, Mia-Stiina Heikkala, Heini Karppinenll, Aape Pohjavirta, Maria Spies ,David Guérin, Hege Tollerud, Antti Korhonen, Kai Talas, Marko Kyyrönen, Vesa Laakso, Colin Brown, Katia Al-Kaisi, Cristina Angelillo, Massimo Ciccarone, Jon Gunnar Thordarson, Enrico Poli, Hans Henrik Christensen
🎤 EduTech Asia
We loved EduTech Asia in Singapore, as it was great to see so many of our startups attending : /BeyondTheBox, Rescale Lab, Noodle Factory, Explico, Wyblo, Akadasia
Our co-founder Alessandro Di Lullo came up with 5 key takeaways from the session:
1. It's time to be bold.
Momentum in #ASEAN is strong and the economic downturn is not dramatically impacting a sector that is experiencing a rebirth after the pandemic. "We are looking for what's new" is a sentence I kept hearing more and more - educators, institutions, and investors are pushing (and being pushed) to re-think how teaching and learning is done and can be delivered in a truly digital way (which doesn't necessarily mean 100% online).
2. The #Metaverse is becoming a major topic in education
The number of Metaverse startups and talks on subject was impressive. We are clearly at the very beginning of this phenomenon and there is so much we all have to learn but I was surprised to see a number of projects that were way past proof of concept stage.
3. #AI + #Data was another big trend
Similarly to the Metaverse, AI and Data were key topics of discussion and an increasing number of institutions are (or want to be) experimenting the use of AI across the entire value chain of activities. The key difference here is the stage we are at. AI and Data Analytics should and can already be present in the innovation toolkit of every education institution.
4. There is not enough #EdTech #Awareness
Educators and industry practitioners are urging to acquire the knowledge and skills to fully appreciate the potential of EdTech. There is a lot of excitement but the lack of understanding often leads to missed opportunities. EdTech is the fast-progressing digitalisation of education and it should not be perceived as an enemy to the education system. Key will be how education institutions will ensure that everyone has the right vocabulary and every employee is involved in this transformation.

🍪 Jen’s Snacks
It can be hard to stay on-top of your game when you’re fast approaching Christmas holidays and you’re often feeling lethargic and cold. We know your pain…we live in London - it’s bloody freezing. So, what can you do to finally combat these difficult times and kickstart your team’s productivity? It’s very simple….start snacking now.
Jennessa, our Startup Scout and Data Analyst, recently went on a voyage across the world to bring us quality snacks, and we are finally full. At SuperCharger Ventures, we’ve discovered that, once you are full, life is easier.
As you can see, Adel, our Investment Associate, has embraced these salty goodies with open arms. The smile on his face now illuminates the office, as he radiates productivity.
Our new intern, Ali, is also finally full.
See you next month!
We hope you enjoyed the read.
